Shaq’s Secret Source: Lakers Want Heat

Bring on the Heat.

According to NBA legend and former LA Lakers great Shaquille O’Neal, the Lakers are hoping to get the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, although the Diesel isn’t naming his inside sources.

“They’re just gonna sit back, celebrate and say, ‘We’re going to play Boston or Miami,’ but something tells me they want the Miami Heat.”

When asked by NBA on TNT host Ernie Johnson how Shaq knows such a thing, he responded with “I’m not allowed to give you my source, but they want the Miami Heat”.

The Lakers went 2-0 against the Heat in the regular season, and 1-1 versus the Celtics, with all games being played prior to the COVID-19 shutdown in mid-March. Either matchup would be welcome by Adam Silver and the NBA.

A Lakers-Celtics finals would generate buzz based on their storied rivalry and would attract non-basketball fans the way Tiger Woods attracts non-golf fans to the sport. A Lakers-Heat series would pit LeBron against his former team which he led to four straight NBA Finals appearances between 2011-2014.

All NBA fans will be eagerly awaiting the result of the Eastern Conference Finals, with Game 6 going tonight in the bubble.
