Amar'e Stoudemire to Join Coaching Staff in Brooklyn

Amar'e Stoudemire is set to join Steve Nash's coaching staff in Brooklyn for the 2020-21 season. The duo are hoping to recreate some of the magic they formed as an unstoppable pick-and-roll duo with the Phoenix Suns in the 2000s.

Stoudemire had a stellar 15-year career in the NBA, highlighted by winning Rookie of the Year in 2002-03, 6 All-Star Games, and 5 All-NBA teams. Most of Stoudemire's best work was done in Phoenix while being fed by Nash, as evidenced by his averages of 21.4 pts & 8.9 reb to go with .544% shooting and 1.4 blocks. After other offers were turned down by Dirk Nowitzki and Mike D'Antoni to join Nash in Brooklyn, moving to Stoudemire makes a lot of sense. Although Amar'e doesn't have any previous coaching experience, his wealth of experience in the NBA should be a huge asset, and his presence in the locker room will help foster a familiar feel for Nash as he enters his first year as an NBA Head Coach.

With Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant both healthy, Nash and Stoudemire will have two of the league's deadliest weapons at their disposal for the upcoming season.
