Prior to signing a 5-year extension with the Rockets a few years ago, the 76ers were rumored to be one of the teams in hot pursuit of Morey. Now, after 13 years with the Rockets organization, Philadelphia has finally landed their coveted basketball brain.
Morey will be heading into a positive situation in Philly, as they have their two uber-talented young stars - Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons - to build around. The team is run by General Manager Elton Brand, who just hired new Head Coach Doc Rivers, and a plethora of other sound basketball minds: Dave Joerger, Dan Burke and Sam Cassell.

The hiring of Rivers and Morey should signal that the 76ers are serious about keeping the Embiid/Simmons combo together. Why would they both go to Philadelphia knowing what they have, only to trade them away for uncertainty? Despite all of the rumors surrounding the duo, odds are they both stay in 76ers uniforms for the foreseeable future.
