Doc Rivers emerging as favorite to land 76ers coaching job
Doc Rivers has been a busy man considering he recently lost his job. The ex-Clippers coach lasted 7 years in LA and while their recent playoff crumble sent him packing, turns out it may not be for long.
Rivers was contacted by the New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers, shortly after the news dropped he was out in LA. While it's not believed he formally has interviewed for the Pelicans or Rockets, an interview has taken place in Philly and word is the job may be Rivers to lose.
The 76ers have also interviewed Ty Lue and Mike D'Antoni. While D'Antoni has been declared by most as the heavy favorite, Rivers' interview on Wednesday night with ownership and management may have changed their minds.
After a productive Wednesday of talks with Sixers, Doc Rivers has emerged as a serious candidate in process to hire a new coach, sources tell ESPN. Rivers left town after meeting with ownership and GM Elton Brand. Mike D’Antoni remains other prominent candidate in search.
