Gary Payton Wants to Return to the NBA
Hall of Fame point guard, Gary Payton has been retired for 13 years, and he's now ready to make his return to the NBA. This time around he won't be calling plays with the ball in his hand, more so a clipboard with a marker attached. Either way, 'The Glove' is ready!
Payton informed the world of his interest via Yahoo Sports and had this to say about his passion for coaching in the league:
I have had conversations in the past about coaching, but the timing wasn’t right. I believe I now am ready to coach. A lot of young NBA players are a voice away from reaching their true potential. I would like to join an NBA staff where I can help coach, mentor and guide players toward the hard work, focus and determination needed to become a reliable contributor to a team’s success.
'The Glove' went on to mention all of his coaches had an impact on him in one shape or another and pushed him the extra mile to be great. Payton would love to be giving the chance to give back and to develop the NBA's best from the sidelines, passing on his knowledge and expertise on both sides of the ball.
Gary Payton is ready to get to work and becomes one of the hottest coaching free-agents on the market!
