Here's Why Kevin Garnett Didn't Join the Lakers in 2007
All Kevin Garnett wanted to do was join the Los Angeles Lakers in 2007, as he was plotting his escape plan from the Minnesota Timberwolves. One problem, Kobe Bryant didn't pick up his phone in time...
Here's more on the story from John Karalis of Mass Live:
Garnett says the Warriors and Suns situations just weren’t right for him. He said his first choice was the Lakers, saying “I wanted to link with (Kobe Bryant),” but he says Bryant didn’t answer his call.
Garnett was a guest on the All the Smoke podcast with Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes and shared some more details on what happened:
I shouted at Kobe but he didn't pick up the line. Him and T-Lue were close, so Lue said to shoot at him again and see what he on. So I shouted again and he didn't get back, so I had to make a decision.
What came next was a championship for KG in 2008 in Boston and the team retiring his #5. Have to say it worked out for the guy, besides the 2010 playoffs when Kobe led the Lakers to the title.
Imagine KG and Kobe running the Lake Show? What could have been...
