Kidd-Gilchrist gives New York someone who can guard multiple positions. He was one of the better defensive players that was still on the free agent board.
As Bobby Marks eluded too, 'MKG' can guard multiple positions and gives the Knicks some versatility with their defensive sets. Some call him underrated while others consider him a draft bust after going #2 overall in 2012, Kidd-Gilchrist is 27, and coming off a year with career lows in points and rebounds. He spent last season with the Hornets in Charlotte and the Mavericks in Dallas.
The Knicks still have a lot to improve on if they want to be taken serious in the eastern conference, but with the drafting of high-flyer Obi Toppin and the additions to their bench, it's certainly a step in the right direction.
