The Gordon Hayward Trade Rumors Are Heating Up
The Boston Celtics are in a very unique position with a stellar team and three upcoming first-round picks in the draft. The team is open to moving all of them and it appears they are also open to moving swingman, Gordon Hayward.
Hayward who is contemplating exercising his player option for next season has been the hot topic of discussion for the Celts, as the team has multiple irons in the fire.
A report has surfaced from Yahoo's Chris Haynes stating the Atlanta Hawks and the Celtics have held trade discussions around the 30-year-old.
Hayward's decision regarding his player option has reportedly been extended until Thursday of this week.
The Hawks are willing to move the #6 pick in the draft, but for Hayward seems a bit much, considering the oft-injured shooter missed a large stretch of last season's playoffs due to an ankle injury.
If it's not Hayward, expect the Hawks to acquire a veteran scorer, meanwhile the Celtics are basically in on every name you can think of at the moment.
Gordon Hayward and the Celtics are working to extend the deadline on Hayward to decide on his $34.2 million player option for the 2020-21 season from today at 5 p.m. to Thursday afternoon, league sources tell ESPN.
