Toronto Raptors Appear Destined to Play Home Games in Florida
According to Raptors insider Michael Grange, Tampa Bay has become the heavy favorite to host the Toronto Raptors 'home' games next season. The team is having troubles getting approvals from governing bodies in Canada as there are still border restrictions in place between Canada and US residents.
Tampa Bay's playing facilities, weather, golf courses, and accommodation options are certainly factors in the team's decision, as the players prefer playing in Toronto, but Tampa would be a certain Plan B.
Grange spoke with the executive of Tampa Bay's Sport commission, Rob Higgins, who had this to say about the Raptors flying south:
Ideally, the Raptors are able to play their upcoming season in Toronto. But should that not be possible, we would have a strong interest in working to successfully meet and exceed their expectations as an alternative host. We’ve enjoyed our preliminary conversations with their organization and stand ready to assist if needed.
With only three weeks until training camp, it's getting down to crunch time. Will #WeTheNorth become #WeTheSouth?
It appears so.
