Warriors and Thunder Finalizing Big Trade
The Golden State Warriors were dealt a huge blow after finding out Klay Thompson tore his Achilles during a pickup game on Wednesday, and today they have begun to get to work to replace his minutes. The team is in deep talks with the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire forward Kelly Oubre Jr.
The Warriors will absorb Oubre Jr., and his $14.4M salary into their $17.2M trade exception once deal is done. https://t.co/GcLaIlnwNF

Oubre was recently acquired by the Thunder in the blockbuster deal that sent Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns. Oubre is still only 24, and now has been moved multiple times. Last year was his best year by far, as he averaged 18.7 points, 6.4 rebounds , 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game in the 56 games he played before tearing his meniscus.
The craziest part of this trade is the amount of money the Warriors are committing themselves to next season. With Thompson out for the year, you can't blame their ownership for still trying to win games.
Golden State tax bill is currently $66M

The addition of Kelly Oubre would see it increase to $134M
$14.4M of Oubre + $68M in taxes= $82.4M
