LBJ is on his way to becoming a billionaire athlete, accumulating $429M in NBA contracts throughout his career, as well as earning north of $50M per year in off-court revenue. As recently as 2018, it cost roughly $250K to purchase a WNBA team, with annual operating costs of $1M per year - something LeBron would have no problem with.
Adding to the intrigue is the fact that James has been an opponent of the Dream's current owner, Kelly Loeffler - who lost her US Senate re-election bid last night in the Georgia Senate run-off. James has been a vocal leader of the BLM movement while Loeffler has been on the opposing side.
Needless to say, we haven't heard the last of LeBron's WBNA ownership aspirations.
