The 25-year-old big-man has two more seasons left on his contract along with a third-year player option for roughly $36 million. So far this season, in 17 appearances the former 4th overall draft pick is averaging 20.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
Financials are always the biggest hurdle with the NBA's salary cap and luxury tax so any trade will come down to money. The Mavericks have struggled a touch this season as they are currently 14-15 on the season which is good for 10th in the West, however hearing Porzingis' name in trade talks is surprising.
Andrew Wiggins plus a few other filler pieces would likely be the return the Mavericks end up with and some would question if that makes them a better team.
It certainly would be weird to see two teams so close in the standings make such a drastic deal together, but hey, stranger things have happened.
