Report: Trae Young and Other Hawks Wanted Lloyd Pierce Fired
In some developing news out of Atlanta, there's been reports surfacing that the players support management firing Lloyd Pierce and would have welcomed the news sooner.
Apparently there was several levels of discontent in the Hawks locker room and a lot of the drama was surrounding how Pierce was handling the rotation and his schemes.
Word is several players were in favor of having a new voice on the sideline and these players reportedly included Trae Young, John Collins and Cam Reddish. Reddish apparently felt singled out at times and the frustration grew when Pierce wouldn't ever take accountability for his own mistakes and would blame others.
This drama apparently goes back to the 2018-19 season and some were surprised he wasn't fired sooner. Pierce ended his tenure in Atlanta with a 63-120 record and the team has now been handed over to interim head coach Nate McMillan who is beloved by the Hawks players.
