Rumor: Nets and Cavaliers Discussing Trade for Veteran Center
The Brooklyn Nets want another piece for their playoff run and have their eyes set on Cleveland Cavaliers center, JaVale McGee. According to multiple reports the two teams are engaged in trade discussions and the belief is McGee is the centerpiece.
McGee is a buy out candidate but he's apparently not interested in having his $4.2 million salary bought out by the team. The backup has played 15.1 minutes per game, but that doesn't mean anything to the Nets, they want McGee because he knows what it takes to win in the playoffs. A lot of people don't realize he's a three-time NBA champion.
So far this season McGee is averaging 7.6 points, 4.9 boards and 1.2 blocks per game for the Cavs. The team is struggling and won't be making the post season so management continues to work the phones looking to ship off their veterans for some younger assets.
The Nets recently added Blake Griffin who they plan on using at multiple positions, meanwhile McGee would serve as the backup center and some insurance for veteran DeAndre Jordan.
