VIDEO: Rockets' Oladipo Comments on Contract Extension Denial
The Houston Rockets acquired Victor Oladipo two weeks into 2021 and want the shooting-guard to stick around for the foreseeable future. Recently reports surfaced stating the team offered Oladipo a two-year contract extension that was then declined from the player. Turns out it wasn't recent at all as Oladipo cleared the air on Monday.
That actually wasn’t yesterday. That was a long time ago. They came at me with the offer. It was more along the lines of, ‘We know you’re not going to accept it, but we still want you to understand that we want you here.’ It was more that gesture, than anything. Didn’t go out of my way to ask, or anything like that. It was just kind of put in front of me, or given to me, to show that they want me to be here.
I didn’t get a chance to say yes or no. They already were under the understanding, or they knew I wasn’t going to accept it, anyway. It’s business. That’s how this business works. I’m just focused on getting better. I’ve got to get minutes. Everything else will take care of itself.

So far with the Rockets, Oladipo has avergaed 18.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 31.4 minutes per game. While the team now knows what exactly he's looking for, there's a growing chance Oladipo is moved before the March 25th trade deadline as management will be certain to gauge the trade market just in case they are blown away.
