A-Rod and Billionaire Lore Buy the Minnesota Timberwolves
Alex Rodriguez has been trying for years to own a sports team and it appears he'll finally get his wish. A-Rod and billionaire Marc Lore have reached an agreement to purchase the Minnesota Timberwolves from Glen Taylor for approximately $1.5 billion, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
This deal also does include the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx, which was first reported by Chris Hine of the Star Tribune.
The two new owners released a statement and had this to say about their next business adventure:
We look forward to entering this phase of the process with Glen Taylor. Our respect for him and the legacy he has built lays an amazing foundation for what is to come. We are excited by the prospect of getting to know the Timberwolves organization, the talented team, and their incredible fans.
If the T-Wolves core can stay healthy, they will have a legit contender in a few years. Health is their biggest obstacle which regardless of the ownership could always hinder the success of the team.
Minnesota last played on Friday against the Boston Celtics and were topped in overtime 145-136, and now sit with a 13-40 record. With another top-pick coming, let's hope for T-Wolves' fans sake, the new owners can bring some luck on draft night.
