Chris Paul Passes Magic Johnson for 5th in All-Time Assists

Chris Paul reached a massive milestone in Phoenix's 128-127 overtime win against Milwaukee on Monday night, as he passed Magic Johnson for 5th on the NBA's all-time assists leaderboard.

Paul, in his 16th season and with his 5th team, has led the NBA in assists per game four times in his legendary career, and owns a career 9.4 apg average, which puts him 4th all-time in the category. He now has both Mark Jackson (10,334 assists) and Steve Nash (10,335 assists) firmly in his sights for 3rd and 4th, respectively, on the all-time assists list. It will take quite an effort to pass them both by the end of this year, but if Paul decides to return for another season in 2021-22 - and why wouldn't he? - he should easily pass them at the start of the year.

Not only is Paul an extraordinary playmaker on the offensive end, but he is also 5th all-time in NBA history in steals with 2,314, as he makes plays on both ends of the court. He's led the NBA six times in steals per game through his career and owns a 2.2 spg average.
