Toronto Raptors To Sign Khem Birch After Magic Release
The Toronto Raptors are adding some more depth at the five as the team is reportedly signing free-agent Khem Birch after Birch was waived by the Orlando Magic.
The 28-year-old Birch has averaged 5.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game during his fourth season in the Association. He's been playing mostly in a depth/bench role and has only made five starts this season.
The Raptors are familiar with the Montreal native as he's represented Canada on the international stage multiple times, including playing for Raptors coach Nick Nurse at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
Most buyout players are at the tail end of their careers & chasing a ring. An 11th-place team was obviously going to be a tough sell for those guys. At 28, Birch is in his prime & looking to showcase himself ahead of UFA. One thing the Raps could offer: plenty of PT at C position

Birch is an undrafted talent who could excel in the right situation. The Canadian is hoping it's Canada's team that helps propel the next stage of his basketball career.
