Fan Who Threw a Water Bottle at Nets' Kyrie Irving Gets Arrested and Banned for Life From TD Garden
A Boston Celtics fan has been both arrested and banned from the TD Garden after throwing a water bottle at Nets star Kyrie Irving, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. The incident occurred post-game as Irving was making his way to the tunnel; fortunately, the bottle was errant and no one got hurt.
Kyrie Irving, in part, on the fan throwing a water bottle at him: "You're seeing a lot of old ways come up... just underlying racism and treating people like they're in a human zoo. Throwing stuff at people, saying things. There is a certain point where it gets to be too much."

Unfortunately, this is becoming a common theme in this year's playoffs. More recently, a fan in New York spat on Hawks guard Trae Young and Ja Morant's family was berated racially in Utah. Kevin Durant also spoke about the inundation of impudent fan behaviour post-game, stating that "fans got to grow up," and "have some respect for the human beings and have some respect for yourself."
Kevin Durant on the bottle throwing: “Have some respect for the human beings and have some respect for yourself. Your mother wouldn’t be proud of you throwing water bottles at basketball players or spitting on players or tossing popcorn.”
