Video: Celtics Enjoy Epic Comeback Thanks to Jayson Tatum's 60 Points
Jayson Tatum is on his way to becoming a Boston Celtic great as the young superstar is blossoming into one of the best players in the NBA. His skillset was on full display on Friday night as Tatum led the Celtics to an epic comeback against the San Antonio Spurs, dropping 60 points in the process.
The Celtics trailed the Spurs by 32 points in the first half and somehow the C's came back to win 143-140 in overtime. Tatum's 60 spot tied the franchise record for single-game scoring which was set by some guy named Larry Bird. The 23-year-old Tatum was dialed in, shooting 5/7 from deep, 20/37 overall, and adding 15/17 from the charity stripe for good measure. Crazy stat too is the fact he didn't committ a turnover and added eight boards and five dimes.
While Tatum may have only tied Bird's franchise record he did become the first Celtic to have multiple 50-plus games in one season, and became the second youngest player behind Devin Booker to score 60.
Here's the historic performance:
