Brad Stevens to Replace Danny Ainge as Head of Basketball Operations
Former Celtics head coach Brad Stevens will succeed Danny Ainge and make the transition to head of basketball operations, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. This is in light of the rumors that Ainge has been mulling over his future with the franchise.
It's being reported that Stevens has been "worn down" since coaching in last seasons 'bubble.' The 44-year-old was Boston's ideal replacement for Ainge, as the latter was considering moving on from the franchise for several months now.
Stevens has been described as worn down with coaching since The Bubble, and welcomed the chance to make the transition to the front office, sources tell ESPN. Stevens will help lead the search for his successor as head coach.

Ainge has been contemplating leaving the job for several months and had been talking about possible succession plans with ownership, sources tell ESPN. Stevens turns out to be the franchise's choice. Ainge also moved from head coaching in the NBA to the front office with Phoenix.

Stevens was the head coach of the Celtics for eight seasons, posting a record of 354-282. He has seven playoff appearances, including three Eastern Conference Finals berths.
