The Toronto Raptors have announced that star forward Pascal Siakam has undergone successful shoulder surgery on a torn labrum.
Raptors announce Pascal Siakam underwent successful surgery last week to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He will require approximately 5 months to recover.

The timeline for recovery is approximately five months. That could mean that he would miss the start of the regular season.
Siakam missed time down the stretch with the shoulder issue. Based on the timeline, I'd guess they tried to go a non-surgical rehab route and this was later determined necessary.

Clearly, Siakam was not completely healthy in the latter stages of this season, after he initially injured it on May 8th. But as Raptors Athletic reporter Blake Murphy suggests, it's possible they were attempting to avoid the surgical route by delaying it, until it became obvious in recent days that this was the best route for recovery.
Siakam finished the season averaging 21.4 ppg, 7.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists.
