Brooks' deal expired after the season, and he's been in limbo since the Wizards were eliminated in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers. Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard spoke of wanting to take some "big swings" this offseason to get the team back into contention, and the Brooks move is the first domino to fall.
Brooks was the 7th-longest tenured coach in the NBA before today's announcement.
