Stan Van Gundy Fired by Pelicans
After just one season at the helm, Stan Van Gundy is out as head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans.
It was a disappointing year in New Orleans, as much was expected of the Zion Williamson-led crew. But the Pelicans' failure to make the playoffs ultimately doomed SVG.
One of the many candidates for his replacement is expected to be female assistant coach Teresa Weatherspoon.

Others in the mix include Jason Kidd, assistants Jacque Vaughn and Ime Udoka of the Brooklyn Nets, and Charles Lee of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Van Gundy says despite what he thought was a great basketball situation, he "wasn't happy with the results." The Pelicans finished the season 31-41 and fell short of the play-in tournament.
The NBA's coaching carousel now has 5 empty seats, the others in Orlando, Portland, Boston and Indiana.
