Cade Cunningham Confirmed As No. 1 Pick by Detroit Pistons
NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski has confirmed that the Detroit Pistons have notified presumptive No. 1 pick Cade Cunningham that he will indeed by their choice when the NBA Draft begins tonight.
According to Woj, the Pistons did their due diligence on Jalen Green and Evan Mobley, expected to be picked Nos. 2 & 3, before finally coming to the conclusion that Cunningham is in fact their man.
The Pistons' front office sat down with the Oklahoma State star once they arrived in New York for the Draft yesterday, and spoke with him again Thursday morning, before notifying him with certainty early this afternoon of their decision.
Trade rumors continue to swirl around the Draft, with some teams hoping to move up or down, or to acquire other players. Woj, however, doesn't feel that any of the teams with the Top 3 picks will be moving off of them, and that they're all pretty set.
There's still some uncertainly about what the Toronto Raptors will do, though he calls it "hard to imagine" them parting with the No. 4 pick. With Cade Cunningham a solid No. 1 to Detroit now, Houston and Cleveland continue to trend toward Jalen Green and Evan Mobley with the second and third picks, respectively, sources tell ESPN.
