Rumor: Warriors Are Interested In Damian Lillard

If the Portland Trail Blazers decide to trade Damian Lillard, there will be a plethora of takers. Yet, it has been confirmed by The Athletic that the Warriors are already talking about the possibility of trading for him. Adding Lillard would certainly help the team, as they are looking to become true contenders again.

The Warriors finished 9th in the Western Conference with a 39-33 record this season. It was not necessarily a bad year for them, but it does show that they would benefit from adding another star talent to the roster. Lillard certainly fits that description.

The 30-year-old is at the beginning of his 4-year, $176 million contract, so he would not come cheap. Yet, when looking at how amazingly he played this season, he certainly is worth the price. He averaged 28.8 points and 7.5 assists per game, so he easily carries an offense. Having him and Stephen Curry could form a fantastic duo in that regard.

This is the type of move that would help the Warriors be a top tier team yet again. If the opportunity presents itself for them, they should try to take advantage of it. However, they will have a lot of competition working towards trading for Lillard, too.
