Boston Celtics Set Date For Kevin Garnett Jersey Retirement
The Boston Celtics are going to retire Kevin Garnett's No. 5 on March 13th, 2022 before the team faces off against the Dallas Mavericks. He will be the 24th player to have this honor from the Celtics.
Garnett was traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Celtics before the start of the 2007-08 season. Along with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, they would form the team's "Big Three" and instantly find success. He would end up being a huge reason why the team would win the NBA Championship in 2008. In that same season, he also was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
In six seasons with the team, he made it to the All-Star Game each year. He also came inches away from winning a second championship with the Celtics in 2010, but lost to the Los Angeles Lakers that time in seven games.
Yet, his impact with the team was massive during his tenure, so it makes sense that his number will be put in the rafters. Save the date, Boston fans.
