$58 million dollars would definitely be considered a "significant" amount of cash.
The lawsuit was filed in a Dallas court, and names Paul and his Klutch Sports agency. They represent NBA superstars such as LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Trae Young, as well as other top names such as Ben Simmons.
But it is his handling of the not-so-marquee names, a description which Noel fits, that is at the center of the lawsuit.
In 2017, Noel was represented by another agent, and was offered a 4-year, $70 million dollar contract by the Dallas Mavericks. But according to the article, Noel met Rich Paul at a party, who convinced Noel to pass on the deal, and hire him as his agent, telling him he was "a $100 million dollar man."
Noel turned down the Dallas offer, and in the next 3 years was forced to accept minimum deals of $5 million or less. The suit also says that several teams reached out to Klutch Sports to discuss contract opportunities for Noel, but the agency failed to follow up.
This offseason, with a new agent, Noel signed a 3-year, $27.7 million dollar contract with the Knicks.
