Report: Talen Horton-Tucker Re-Signs with LA Lakers

The Lakers were busy on Tuesday, as they re-signed twenty-year-old Talen Horton-Tucker to a three year deal worth a reported $32M. 

Restricted free agent Talen Horton-Tucker has agreed to a three-year, $32M deal to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers, his agents @KlutchSports CEO Rich Paul and Lucas Newton tell ESPN.

The Lakers were keen to keep THT, as they announced on July 22nd that they had extended a qualifying offer to the 2019 2nd round draft choice out of Iowa State. 2020-21 proved to be a breakout year for THT, as he averaged 9.0 ppg, 2.6 rpg and 2.8 apg, while becoming a fan favorite. However, more will be expected of him as he enters his third year with the storied franchise. 

Re-signing Talen Horton-Tucker was crucial for the Lakers after losing Alex Caruso and given the remaining options in free agency. His role should grow considerably next season, potentially as LA's starting shooting guard -- depending on his 3-point improvement -- or sixth man.
