Reports: Knicks and Heat the Finalists for DeMar DeRozan

It seems that the free agency of DeMar DeRozan has taken a back seat this offseason only to his old friend Kyle Lowry's. And while Lowry seems to be set to join the Miami Heat in a sign-and-trade come the opening of the signing period after 6:00 ET, DeRozan's services still seem to be up in the air.

To join his long-time best bud from his Toronto days in Miami, DeRozan would have to accept the Mid-Level Exception, $5.9 million dollars. That's a huge pay cut from the $27.7 million he was earning on his now-expired contract.

If DeRozan is still looking for the money, the New York Knicks will be offering a good chunk of change. And as we've noted, the Knicks have the most room under the cap, at over $50 million, to spend in free agency.

Knicks' beat reporter Ian Begley indicates that there is indeed mutual interest between DeMar and New York.

Evan Fournier is another Knicks' target, assuming their wooing of DeRozan falls short.
