Boston Celtics & Memphis Grizzlies Agree to a Three-Player Swap
The Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to a trade that sees forward Juan Hernangomez head to the Celtics in exchange for guards Kris Dunn, Carsen Edwards and a 2026 second-round pick.
An under-the-radar type of addition, Hernangomez has bounced around recently and gets set for his new home in Bean Town. Last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Spanish forward averaged 7.2 ppg and 3.9 rpg, starting six out of 52 games. He's going to bring a strong work ethic and some bench depth to the Celtics who are certainly going to look like a new team next season.
As for the Grizzlies, they move on and bring in a couple of guards for some internal competition. Dunn has shown he's capable of being a reliable back up and will certainly be given the chance to follow Grizz' superstar Ja Morant. Dunn was a former fifth overall pick of the Timberwolves, meanwhile Edwards was stapled to the Celtics bench the past two seasons and is hopeful of some more playing time in Memphis.
Deal can’t be formally completed until September 15, when Dunn and Edwards contracts are allowed to be aggregated in the trade. https://t.co/yz6EmpOu1r
