Report: James Harden Expresses Desire To Stay With Brooklyn Nets
Although James Harden did not sign an extension with the Brooklyn Nets before October 18th's deadline, he told reporters Tuesday evening that he has no intentions in leaving the team and playing elsewhere. He also noted that he wants to focus on winning this season and put contract talks aside for the time being.
Harden has two more years on his current contract, but also has a player option for the 2022-23 season. It will be interesting to see what if he decides to opt in for next season. If he does, he will end up making $47,366,670 for the year. From here, he also could land himself a monstrous four-year, $223 million extension next summer.James Harden on not signing an extension: “The contract, the money is going to be there. I don't plan on leaving this organization and the situation we have. My focus is on the season and winning a championship. The contract and all that stuff will play itself out as it should.” pic.twitter.com/Dugwr89CD5

Harden was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Nets early in the 2020-21 season. In 36 games as a Net, he averaged 24.6 PPG, 10.9 assists and 8.5 rebounds. He also would go on to make his ninth straight All-Star game in the process.
Nonetheless, Brooklyn fans should feel less stressed about Harden's future with the team. It is clear that he is very interested in sticking around and ultimately should.
