Memphis Grizzlies Sign Guard
The Memphis Grizzlies are joining in on the free agent fun, as they have signed shooting guard Dakota Mathias to a 10-day contract.
At this said time, the Grizzlies have multiple players in health and safety protocols. Thus, it isn't all that surprising to see them add to their depth by signing Mathias to this short-term deal.
Mathias played in eight games with the Philadelphia 76ers last season. In them, he averaged 6.0 points, 0.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. This is his only experience in the league, but now he will have the chance to build on it as a member of the Grizzlies.
Mathias also showed promise in the G-League with the Texas Legends during the 2019-20 season. In 42 games, he averaged 18.1 PPG, 4.9 RPG and and 3.1 APG.
Nevertheless, this is a minor depth move by the Grizzlies, but a big opportunity for Mathias. If he impresses from here, perhaps he could land another NBA contract once his 10-day expires.
