Milwaukee Bucks Lose Big Man Indefinitely To Surgery
The reason for the recent addition of center DeMarcus Cousins to the Milwaukee Bucks roster has become more clear today, as we've learned that center Brook Lopez has undergone back surgery, and will be out indefinitely.

The procedure was successful, but there is no timeline for his return. Lopez played opening night for the Bucks back in October, but back soreness has kept him out of the lineup ever since. It was only a week-and-a-half ago that Lopez sounded very hopeful about his impending return.

Things have obviously taken a turn for the worse since then. In his absence, the Bucks have given Bobby Portis more extended minutes at the 'five', while the signing of Cousins provides another big-man presence for Giannis Antetokounmpo to work alongside.
The defending champs have struggled with injuries all season. Donte DiVincenzo hasn't played a game yet, Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton have each missed some time, and now the Lopez news.
Despite all this, the Bucks are tied for 2nd in the Eastern Conference, at 14-8, just a game-and-a-half behind the East-leading Brooklyn Nets.
