NBA Rumors: 76ers & Trail Blazers Discussing Blockbuster Trade
The Portland Trail Blazers and Philadelphia 76ers are a couple of franchises who are expected to undergo some serious changes this season. Both clubs have been discussing a number of moves including a blockbuster trade that involves Ben Simmons for CJ McCollum.
Sources have told the Athletic's Shams Charania and Sam Amick that Damian Lillard would love a chance to play with Ben Simmons, it's just unknown if he wants McCollum to be the fall-guy because of it.
The two teams have gone back and forth with offers including the Blazers offering McCollum, a first-round pick and Nassir Little, but the 76ers wanted more. They reportedly countered with McCollum, multiple first-round picks and pick swaps, which the Trail Blazers wanted no part of.
A lot of this information is likely stemming from former general manager Neil Olshey who was fired last week after a monthlong investigation into the work place. Several misconduct allegations were confirmed and Olshey was let go after nearly a decade in a leadership capacity with the Blazers.
As for Simmons, he remains on the sidelines, waiting and wishing for a trade. He's still only 25, a defensive player of the year type of talent and someone who would like great running the floor with Lillard.
The Trail Blazers sit 10th in the West while the 76ers are ninth in the East. Both teams have been disappointing so far to start the 2021-22 season hence why some major changes could very well be on the way.
