He wants out. And if a good deal materializes by the deadline, he's going. If not, Portland could trade him this summer.
Lillard who carries himself with an unbelievable amount of pride has yet to confirm the rumors. There's been a ton of discussion about a trade, dating back to last season but it always felt like Lillard was there to deny the rumors and reiterate his love for Portland and finishing his unfinished business.
Belief is Lillard prefers to be dealt to the New York Knicks as the amount of teams who could actually trade for him is a very short list. The Philadelphia 76ers are also engaged in trade talks, but according to reports, he prefers the Knicks over the 76ers. There's no doubt if the Golden State Warriors came calling, Lillard would start to pack his bags immediately.
So far this season, the Oakland native has seen his numbers drop slightly, but is still having a decent season, averaging 21.5 points per game to go along with 7.8 assists and 4.0 rebounds. While his points are down from his career average of 24.6 per game, he's putting up some of the best facilitator numbers he ever has.
Expect to see some trade offers come flying in from other teams now that the news has gone public. While he prefers the Knicks, there's certainly a chance he ends up in some place other than the Big Apple.
