NBA Rumors: New York Knicks Eyeing Myles Turner
Following their loss against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, the New York Knicks are reportedly looking to shake up their roster and according to Knicks Reporter Ian Begley, Knicks brass have their eye firmly fixed on Myles Turner.
The Indiana Pacers have indicated that they have entered a full rebuild and have indicated that Turner is available in addition to Forward Domantas Sabonis and Guard Caris LeVert. The Knicks have sorely needed more production from the center spot this season, missing starter Mitchell Robinson and backup Nerlens Noel for considerable amounts of time this season and when they have played their anemic production (They average 11 ppg combined so far this season) has held back a talented squad lead by emerging star Julius Randle and an improved effort from RJ Barrett.
The Knicks currently sit in 12th in the Eastern conference at 12-14 and currently possess the third-worst points differential in the conference. Bringing in Turner would be a major win for the Knicks as Turner’s 12.7 ppg would be an immediate improvement over anyone else at that position currently on the roster while also giving the Knicks another weapon from beyond the arc (Turner is shooting 35.7% from three-point range this season).

A trade for Turner would likely have to include a combination of Obi Toppin, Mitchell Robinson or Kevin Knox with the option to also move Kemba Walker who has fallen out of favour with Head Coach Tom Thibodeau and finds himself on the outside looking in when it comes to playing time. It’s worth noting that the Knicks do also possess up to two 1st round picks in this year’s draft (the Knicks hold a top-18 protected from the Hornets) that could be used as potential trade capital.
This is of course only speculation but a major shakeup seems imminent with so many teams waiting for December 15th when more players will become available for trade. Will the Knicks be a team that strikes early and sets the market for what appears to be a busy winter in the NBA? Watch the Knicks lose a nail-biter to the Toronto Raptors below.
