Heat Sign One Player And Waive Another
The Miami Heat are set to sign Kyle Guy to a two-way contract. Due to this, they also will be waiving Marcus Garrett.
Guy is currently on his second 10-day contract with the Heat. With this development, it's clear that he has impressed Miami enough to earn a contract for the season. Even if it's a two-way deal, it does open the door for the 24-year-old to get into more NBA action as the season progresses.
In six games with the Heat thus far, Guy has averaged 8.2 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest. With that, he's averaging about 17.2 minutes per game, so it is apparent that the Heat are liking what they are seeing from him. He previously played 34 games with the Utah Jazz over two seasons, where he averaged 2.7 points and 1.0 assists per contest.
Garrett has already been ruled out for the remainder of the season because he had wrist surgery. In 12 games, the 23-year-old rookie averaged 1.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. It will be intriguing to see if the Heat decide to bring him back next season. For now, however, he will be without a home.
