Klay Thompson Announces His Return By Channeling Space Jam
It's official. Klay Thompson is making his return on Sunday. We know it's official, because Klay announced it himself on Instagram, channeling Bill Murray in Space Jam.
Murray makes a triumphant appearance on the court, to his own "ta da", saying to Michael Jordan, "Perhaps I can be of some assistance?" Klay added the text, "How I’m pulling up to chase tomorrow, Bill Murray is my spirit animal. IM SO EXCITED TO SEE YALL DUBNATION ! LETS GET IT"
Thompson has been away from the game for 941 days—two and a half years—recovering from first a torn ACL suffered in the 2019 Finals, and then a ruptured Achilles.
He's been working out with the Warriors' G League team, and more recently with Steph Curry and Co. His return is set for Sunday, at 5:30 local time, 8:30 ET, as the Warriors host the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Warriors are 29-9, the 2nd best record in the NBA, now they add one of the game's all-time great shooters, reuniting with his Splash Brother, Curry.
Head coach Steve Kerr has already confirmed that Thompson will start; no missing around with coming off the bench. Teammate Andrew Wiggins had a message for the other 29 teams, "the league's going to be in trouble."
