Mavericks Sign Player And Waive Another
The Dallas Mavericks are signing Marquese Chriss to a two-way deal. With this, they are waiving Willie Cauley-Smith to open up a roster spot.
Chriss signed three different 10-day deals with Dallas, and it's clear he has impressed enough to earn himself a permanent job. In 12 games with the team thus far, he has averaged 6.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.3 assists.
Chriss also comes with a lot of NBA experience. In 270 career games between the Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, and Mavericks, he has averaged 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.3 assists.
Cauley-Smith played in 18 games with the Mavericks this season but hasn't since November 27th. During them, he averaged 1.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per contest. With all of this, it doesn't make too significant of a difference that he's being waived.
