Miami Heat Keeping Forward Around
The Miami Heat have signed Chris Silva to a fourth 10-day contract. This comes right after his third deal ended on Sunday.
Since the beginning of 2022, Silva has been a part of the Heat, and he is continuing to make his case to stay. In seven games thus far with the team, he is averaging 3.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 0.4 assists. With that, he is playing nine minutes per game while coming off the bench.
Overall, this is great news for Silva, as it will allow him the chance to continue playing at the NBA level. He actually began his career with the Heat, too, so this has been a fun reunion to watch. In 67 career games between the Heat, Sacramento Kings, and Minnesota Timberwolves, he has averaged 2.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.5 assists.
The Heat currently have Omer Yurtseven in health and safety protocols, so it allowed them to sign Silva to this hardship deal. It will be interesting to see what they opt to do once their roster is completely healthy. They clearly like what they have been seeing from Silva, so maybe he could land a contract for the remainder of the campaign.
Alas, for now, Silva has at least earned himself another 10-day contract. Let's see how he performs from here.
