Milwaukee Bucks Waive Veteran Big Man
Moments after a nail-biting loss to the Toronto Raptors Wednesday night, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Milwaukee Bucks are set to waive DeMarcus Cousins, opting for more roster flexibility ahead of the league-wide contract date January 7th and with just over a month until the NBA trade deadline.
The move comes as somewhat of a shock as Cousins was playing well for the reigning World Champions averaging 9 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist through 17 games, in a bench role, that included a 15-point double-double against the Raptors on Wednesday night. Charania went on to further speculate that there is likely to be interest around the league in procuring the services of the 31-year old former 5th overall pick.
When asked about waiving the veteran big man, Bucks GM John Horst was frank in his assessment when he told ESPN, "We wouldn’t have been able to get through this difficult stretch of the season as successfully as we did without DeMarcus...He was so good for us and hopefully, we helped him too."The Milwaukee Bucks plan to waive center DeMarcus Cousins, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Bucks are opting for roster flexibility ahead of league-wide contract guarantee date Friday. There’s expected to be interest in Cousins as a free agent.

Here’s hoping the 5-time All-Star is able to secure a job with another contending team but in the meantime, the show must go on and the Bucks will be back in action Friday when they travel to Barclay’s Center to take on Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets. While we all hold our collective breath in anticipation for him to be signed, check out below for some of the best highlights from Cousins’ career.
