NBA Rumors: Bucks Interested In Suns Big Man
With Brook Lopez out, the Milwaukee Bucks may pursue Phoenix Suns big man, Jalen Smith, according to Jake Fischer of the Bleacher Report.
Smith was selected by the Suns with the 10th overall pick of the 2020 NBA draft, so he is viewed as having a lot of potential. In 23 games this season with the team, he has averaged 6.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.2 assists. Although those numbers may not necessarily be jaw-dropping, it's important to note that he is also only averaging 17.7 minutes per game. Perhaps a move to the Bucks would allow him to get more playing time.
In 50 career games thus far with the Bucks, he has averaged 4.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.2 assists. There certainly would be some risk in the Suns giving up on the 21-year-old so quickly, as he still has plenty of room to improve from here.
If Lopez ends up having to miss a lot of time, don't be surprised to see the Bucks bring in a center of some kind - whether it's Smith or another player elsewhere. They should do everything in their power to try to repeat as champions this postseason. At this time, they have a 30-20 record and are sixth in the Eastern Conference, so it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the roster.
