NBA Rumors: Celtics Shopping 2 Players
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Boston Celtics are shopping Marcus Smart and Dennis Schroder.
With this news, it seems that the Celtics are ready to embark on a retooling period. It is fair to say that change is needed, as they currently have a 23-22 record and are 10th in the Eastern Conference. Yet, they are also only five and a half games behind the first-place Chicago Bulls.
It also has been noted that they want to add a wing to their roster, while also keeping Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Thus, they aren't rebuilding entirely, but rather trying to make changes on the fly to help save their season.
In 38 games this season, Smart is averaging 11.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. With that, he has also played the entirety of his 487-game career with Boston, where he has averaged 10.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. If moved, it will be strange to see him in a different jersey, but it seems rather possible.
Schroder signed with the Celtics during the offseason, but now may already be moved. In 38 games with the team thus far, he is averaging 15.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. His name already came up in trade talks during December, but it seems that they are only growing from here.
Alas, let's see what the Celtics end up doing. It appears that they could be in for some big changes.
