NBA Rumors: Hawks Turned Down THIS Blockbuster From Sixers
Although recent reports suggest the Philadelphia 76ers may be going in another direction with Ben Simmons, this doesn't mean that they haven't been active in exploring blockbuster trade opportunities for the disgruntled star.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports that the Sixers asked for John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Danilo Gallinari in return for Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris. But the Hawks were not interested.
"Those talks stalled quickly, with Atlanta uninterested in Harris, and unlikely to be able to flip him to a third team," said Scotto. The Simmons and Harris salaries combine for about $70M, something the Hawks could not take on.
Since then, we've learned, it seems that Sixers' president Daryl Morey has really focused his sights on using Simmons for a sign-and-trade to land James Harden in the offseason. It doesn't seem so crazy after we learned of Harden's unhappiness in Brooklyn.
As for the Hawks, they're not done dealing. After GM Travis Schlenk pretty much threw his team under the bus last week, we learned that pretty much the entire roster, outside of Trae Young and Clint Capela, is available.
