Rockets' Kevin Porter Jr. Leaves Arena After Argument With Coach
After a big argument with assistant coach John Lucus during Saturday night's game against the Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. left Toyota Center during the second half. Clearly, the 21-year-old was livid.
The Rockets stated that Porter Jr. may not return during the second half because he was getting his thigh evaluated. Yet, with this news, it's clear that this was not why he was not around after halftime.
One has to wonder if this could spark the Rockets to move Porter Jr. It's becoming apparent that he's not seeing eye to eye with his coaches and is clearly frustrated with losing. Perhaps, at this juncture, it would be beneficial for both parties to move on from one another.
The Rockets initially acquired Porter Jr. from the Cleveland Cavaliers last year. Cleveland decided to move him because they were concerned about his actions off of the court. A situation like the one that occurred on Saturday night may make them feel more confident about their decision.
In 22 games this season, Porter Jr. has averaged 12.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists.
