Trail Blazers Center Out Long Term
Portland Trail Blazers center Cody Zeller will be out for the next eight to 10 weeks after having surgery on his right knee.
Zeller signed with the Trail Blazers over the summer. In 27 games with the team so far, he has averaged 5.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists. He's primarily been a depth player for them, but it's never ideal to lose a player from the roster. That's especially the case when it's for this amount of time.
The Trail Blazers currently have a 20-27 record and are tenth in the Western Conference. They are 3.5 games behind the eighth-place Los Angeles Lakers, so they certainly aren't out of the playoff hunt just yet. However, they now will be trying to get back into the playoff picture without Zeller for a pretty long amount of time.
Alas, here's to hoping Zeller is able to return shortly after he is re-evaluated. We'll have to wait and see what happens on that front.
