Utah Jazz And Oklahoma City Thunder Strike A Deal
The Utah Jazz have traded Miye Oni and a 2028 second-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In response to this move, the Thunder also waived Gabriel Deck to open up a roster spot for Oni. However, Oni's stay with the Thunder isn't going to be long, as the team will be releasing him. This is a good move for the Thunder, as they are underneath the salary floor, and releasing Oni will add more to their cap.
Oklahoma City is acquiring Utah's Miye Oni and a 2028 second-round pick, sources tell ESPN. Thunder will waive Oni and open up a roster spot ahead of the February trade deadline. Utah saves money and opens a roster spot too.

The Jazz originally were going to waive Oni later this week, but that would have kept his cap hit on the books for them. Now, by trading him to the Thunder, the Jazz do not less a single penny. Instead, they are parting ways with a draft pick that is six years away from now.
In 16 games this season with the Jazz, Oni averaged 0.3 points, 0.4 rebounds, and 0.3 assists. Throughout the entirety of his three-year career with Utah, he's been a depth player. Now, the 24-year-old will be hoping to land a contract elsewhere from here.
