Utah Jazz Sign Forward
The Utah Jazz have signed Zylan Cheatham to a 10-day contract.
Cheatham has not played in the NBA since the 2019-20 campaign when he was a member of the New Orleans Pelicans. However, he only played in four contests with the team, where he averaged 3.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists. This is his only past experience in the league, but now, he will have the chance to build on it with the Jazz.
Cheatham has spent this season with the Birmingham Squadron of the G League. In 13 games with the team, he averaged 14.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per contest. Overall, that kind of production isn't too bad, so it makes sense that the Jazz were willing to give him this temporary deal.
The Jazz currently have five players in health and safety protocols, so it isn't all that surprising to see them add another player. It will be intriguing to see how Cheatham performs in his first taste of NBA action in two years.
