Celtics To Sign Forward
The Boston Celtics are set to sign Matt Ryan to a two-way contract.
To avoid confusion, no, it isn't the Atlanta Falcons quarterback. Ryan is a 6-foot-7 small forward who has played this season with the Grand Rapid Golds of the G League. In 16 games thus far, he is averaging 18.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. Overall, he has been playing quite well, and it will be interesting to see how this translates over to the NBA.
Ryan played for Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and Chattanooga in college before beginning his professional career. In 134 total collegiate games, he averaged 7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists.
At this point of the season, the Celtics have a 36-26 record and are preparing for the postseason. Although adding Ryan isn't a huge splash, he will provide them with more depth moving forward. It is always beneficial to have that.
